| UH OH! TIME TO PRICE YOUR ART WORK Where do you begin? Is there a formula for pricing art work? What about sales tax? Are you charging too much or too little for your work? This topic is one of the most confusing of all for the professional artist. In this workshop, I will address among other things, the confidence factor when pricing your work, how to defend your prices, how to work with galleries and commissions, gallery contracts, how to define your market and when to give yourself a raise. You deserve it! “THE NEW PORTFOLIO” What’s in it for you? First impressions are important. Marketing yourself to the art world as a professional is a smart decision. But just how do you do that? What does the “New Portfolio” look like and what does it mean to be a professional artist? In this workshop, you will learn what all of the ingredients of a professional presentation package consists of, how to define yourself, where to get the help that you need and where to market yourself and why. Organizing your thoughts is the first step toward realizing your dreams of success. But how do you do that? How do you clarify your confusion about what’s best for your career? What do you want to do with your professional career? Where do you see yourself in ten years? Five? A year from now? This class will help anyone be able to identify and clarify their goals for the short and long term. We will address some aspects of career development, the art business office, and “how to” get started. “THE ESCAPE ARTIST” How seriously do you take yourself? Have you given any thought to your current career path and how to plan for your future as an artist? In this workshop we will seriously get down to business by discussing what it means to have a marketing budget, the art office, pricing and marketing strategies. Let’s work together and support each other to become the super creative professionals we disserve to be! THE IMPORTANCE OF THE ARTIST STATEMENT/BIO Who are you? Why is the artist statement sooo important? What’s the difference between an artist statement and a bio? In this workshop, I will share with you the good, the bad and the ugly truth about this important aspect of the art world. The artist statement is very possibly the reason between acceptance and rejection to galleries, above and beyond that of your work. Learn what it takes to have a great one. “THE ARTIST MAKEOVER” Marketing Tools for the Creative Professional This course is designed as a “how to” for the Artist/Creative Professional, whether emerging or mid-career, who wants to market themselves to licensing agencies, galleries, the press, the public, designers, art consultants, or interior decorators. What does being a marketable professional artist look like? How do you organize your marketing materials? What goes in to a presentation packet? Press packet? Why does the artist need this? All of these questions and more will be addressed in this comprehensive, and informative class TRANSFORMING THE ARTIST WITHIN A workshop/lecture dedicated to empowering all creative individuals It takes a certain amount of courage to be an artist. Sometimes we question ourselves as to whether we deserve to be in this incredibly creative livelihood. Are you challenged by the fear that you aren’t worthy to be compensated, or that what you do has little value and respect. Fact or myth? Where do you begin to love what you do and feel that you have the right to do what you love. Find your courage and be supported in this positively amazing experiential class. “THE BUSINESS OF ART/THE ART OF BUSINESS” Two day workshop This workshop is intended for artists who wish to increase their level of professionalism. Any artist can benefit from this course, but it is meant as a “how to” for emerging and part-time artists with limited marketing experience. Day one topics include: Pricing (methods of calculating prices, maximizing the value of your work, signing and titling protocol); preparing your bio/artists statements; and organizing the artist’s office (business basics and office organization). Day two topics include: Identifying your artistic goals (creating a personal plan for short and long term goals in all aspects of an artists business); research and development of exhibition planning; and image development (the elements of the artist’s presentation). |
